Fitness and exercise can be confusing and difficult to do with a super busy life.  There are so many choices for exercising! Where to begin? Well, good question. It really can be a simple answer. A good place to start is by planning to walk everyday. By walking just 30 minutes a day you can get all the benefits with very little costs.   The benefits of walking are many and include looking better, feeling better, losing weight, increased circulation and enhanced mental well-being.  The American Heart Association reports a moderate daily walk of 30 minutes can help you lower the risk of coronary heart disease, obesity, osteoporosis, breast or colon cancer, and type 2 diabetes. (  Also, walking can be fun especially if your walking and talking with a friend/loved one or your favorite fury friend puppy!

As you all know walking in Tallahassee Florida can be quite hot and humid during the summer months, but now with fall and cooler weather approaching, it is a great time to get out and rediscover the natural beauty of Tallahassee.  During the hot summer months, going to a mall can be a great and convenient option for walking because you get to be in a air conditioned environment that is safe from cars and has plenty to look at like all the stores.

In Tallahassee Florida we are lucky to have so many wonderful city and state parks for walking including Tom Brown Park, Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park, Cascades Park, Forrest Meadows Park and Athletic Center, AJ Henry Park and Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park, to name a few.

Here's a few things to focus on before walking: first make sure you have clearance for physical exercise from your medical doctor if needed, then get good shoes that fit your feet, be sure to drink plenty of water and get your spine checked for proper alignment at Pragle Chiropractic.  If needed, the Atlas Orthogonal (AO) treatment and Back/Hip treatment from Pragle Chiropractic are great for realigning the spine and hips which often improves posture and makes standing and walking easier.  Many people need arch support or supportive shoes that are also cushioned, very important to figure this out before attempting a regular walking routine. Also, massage therapy from Pragle Chiropractic can be a great way to relieve tense or sore muscles. So take that first step to better health! A walk a day has so many benefits!
